Enroute Group CIC is a volunteer-led transport research organisation founded in 2023 to explore how sustainable transport policy could better serve those across Great Britain. We have recently taken the difficult decision to wind down the organisation later this year (see our statement below). In preparation, we have transitioned to this new website which will remain as an archive after we have closed, to preserve the work of our volunteers.
From its beginnings, Enroute brought together students, early-career professionals and experienced professionals with a shared interest in public and active transport. Working collaboratively, we produced research and policy analysis on announcements, projects and proposals from across Great Britain.
Examples of our work ranged from detailed analysis of rail re-openings through the Restoring Your Railway programme, to the case for returning international rail services to Kent in partnership with Bring Back Euro Trains, and forward-looking contributions on high-speed rail, including our open letter to the Secretary of State on Fixing the Spine. Alongside project work, Enroute developed a strong voice through consultation responses and our long-term 2050 Vision.
Enroute exists to give volunteers the support and confidence to develop research skills and contribute meaningfully to the sustainable transport industry. Many of those involved we hope will have gone on to apply this experience in their studies and/or careers.
This website is maintained in a personal capacity by Harry Burr, Joint Chief Executive of Enroute, on behalf of Enroute as the organisation winds down. It will continue to be maintained by Harry Burr after the organisation ceases activity in order to preserve our published outputs.
